Icy, foggy conditions cancel school buses for second day

For a second day in a row school buses outside of London won't be rolling.

Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services announced just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday school purpose vehicles in Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties and the Red Zone have been cancelled for the day. The reason is due to thick fog and icy roads in rural areas.

School buses in the City of London will be starting on schedule.

Environment Canada has London, Middlesex, Oxford, and Elgin under a fog advisory. The weather agency warns visibility will be near zero in some spots due to the widespread dense fog. Conditions should improve throughout the morning with the fog slowly dissipating . Ice left from Tuesday's freezing rain will melt early in the day as the temperature rises to 4 C.

All schools within the London District Catholic and Thames Valley District school boards will be open on Wednesday.
