Residents of parts of Middlesex and Huron counties, as well as those in the Owen Sound area can expect to do some shovelling this weekend.
Environment Canada has issued snow squall warnings for southern Huron County, Middlesex County, and the Owen Sound, Blue Mountains, and northern Grey County areas on Friday.
The weather agency says snow squalls are expected to develop over Lake Huron and move inland, beginning on Friday evening. By the time the warning is expected to end on Sunday, some areas may have seen up to 30 centimetres of snow.
"The greatest snowfall accumulation is expected to be north of Highway 402 and northwest of the City of London to the Lake Huron shoreline," the warning said.
In the Owen Sound area, snowfall amounts could be in the 15-25 cm range.
"Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations," the warning added. "Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop."
Environment Canada expects the snow squalls to taper to flurries by Sunday morning.
