Loaded sawed-off shotgun, drugs seized by London police

London police responding to a call about a stabbing near Old East Village ended up arresting a man who allegedly had a loaded sawed-off shotgun and a quantity of drugs.

A person called 911 after finding a man with a stab wound in the area of William and Bathurst streets around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday. When officers arrived, paramedics were taking the injured man to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police spotted a second man who was attempting to run from the area. They gave chase and ended up arresting a man a short distance away. A search turned up a loaded sawed-off shotgun and an unspecified quantity of drugs.

A 23-year-old London man has been charged with nine offences including possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a restricted firearm without a licence, careless use of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of drugs.

The man was scheduled to appear in London court on Friday.
