Eighteen Liberal and NDP MPs have penned their signatures to open letter calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and advancing the two-state solution in Israel.
Another 36 politicians in the U.S. and Germany also signed the strongly-worded letter.
"In the spirit of our shared global responsibility and with a deep commitment to the safety, dignity and rights of civilians, we, the undersigned, urgently call for a ceasefire in Gaza and a new push for a durable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," starts the letter.
The military offensive in Gaza is said to have killed 25,000 people, including 7,000 children.
The Associated Press reported on Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected calls from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to scale back the military option and for Palestinian independence.
The letter condemns the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, calling it a "brutal act of terror and a heinous breach of international law." It acknowledges the murder of 1,200 Israeli citizens and the rape, torture, and kidnapping of many others.
More than 100 hostages remain in Gaza.
"As would any state, Israel has the right to defend itself and to guard against future attacks, in accordance with international law," it stated. "Yet, Israel's unfolding military operations in Gaza have left no safe space for civilians in the most densely populated territory on Earth. Its total siege has cut off communications, electricity, water, food, medicine, and fuel to Gaza's two million inhabitants, half of whom are children -- Conditions on the ground are inhumane and grow more intolerable and lethal by the day."
While Israel has insisted its goal is to rid Gaza of Hamas, a growing chorus in the international community warns the objective is unattainable.
"We believe that the price of defeating Hamas cannot be the ongoing suffering of all Palestinian civilians. Even Israeli hostages have inadvertently become victims of Israel's military action," continued the letter.
Signatories point to a temporary ceasefire in November as proof agreements can successfully return Israeli hostages home and save civilian lives. The alternative, they warn, is the escalation of risk to Israel and regional instability.
The letter demands a two-state solution, the expulsion of Hamas and other terrorist groups from Gaza, and the rule of international law.
"Our governments must uphold international law and hold our allies accountable for their actions. This means calling out Israeli and Palestinian leadership alike when they sabotage the potential for a two-state solution," it said. "Prime Minister Netanyahu's aggressive expansion of Israeli settlement in the occupied territories is a major obstacle to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace as well as a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention."
Finally, the letter demands the International community commit resources to rebuild Gazan infrastructure "needed for education, health, social welfare and the rule of law in an eventual democratic Palestinian state."
The letter is signed by federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Windsor West MP Brian Masse, London West MP Arielle Kayabaga, and London-Fanshawe MP Lindsay Mathyssen.
