London police officer facing charges

A 19-year London police veteran is facing multiple charges and has been suspended with pay.

On December 12, London police officers responded to an incident involving an off-duty officer.

Constable Juan Romero-Hernandez, 46, was arrested at the scene and taken to police headquarters.

He was charged with two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and obstructing police.

According to police, no serious injuries were reported.

On December 23, the same officer, who had been released from custody with conditions, was located at an address that breached those conditions.

He now faces a further charge of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Police said they won't make any further comments as the matter is before the courts.

Romero-Hernandez is expected to appear in court on Thursday in relation to the charges.
