Three men from the London Knights' rich and colourful past will be given their due in the team's hall of fame next month.
The Knights announced on Monday the 2024 inductees into the Don Brankley Hall of Fame. The hall is named after the team's longtime trainer, who died in 2017.
Representing the 1970s is player Billy Carroll, who played for the Knights for three seasons. Carroll was the 11th captain in the club's history. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in the second round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. He won three Stanley Cups with the Islanders and one with the Edmonton Oilers. Carroll retired as a player in 1987 following a stint with the Detroit Red Wings.
Marc Methot is an inductee representing the 2000s. The defenceman was with the team for three seasons, ending with 2005's "Team of the Century", which won the Memorial Cup. Methot scored two goals in game one of the Cup final, including the overtime winner. He spent 13 seasons in the NHL with stops in Columbus, Ottawa, and Dallas. Most recently, he co-hosted the "Wally and Methot Show" podcast, which discussed the Ottawa Senators.
Jim McKellar is being inducted as a builder. He worked in London's front office for 11 years. His expertise in scouting and business operations was instrumental in the creation of the 2005 "Team of the Century". He left the Knights for the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks in 2011. He is still with the Hawks as the chief Eastern Canada scout and has won two Stanley Cups as an amateur scout.
The inductees will be honoured during a pre-game press conference and on-ice ceremony at Budweiser Gardens on February 16.
