14-year-old among two charged in New Year's Day assault

A bizarre incident that saw two people threatened with a knife and knocked to the ground on New Year's Day has two Londoners, including a 14-year-old girl, facing charges.

According to London police, an intoxicated woman showed up to a home in the area of Jalna Boulevard and Elvira Crescent around 1:30 a.m. on Monday. The residents of the home were attempting to walk the impaired woman back to her house when she allegedly pulled a knife, made threats, and then shoved them to the ground.

The woman took off and police were called.

Officers, who were given a description of the woman, searched the area but were unable to find her.

While continuing to investigate, police were notified that the woman had returned to the home, this time with another person, and was damaging the resident's vehicle with a bat. The two ran off before officers arrived. However, they were soon arrested at a nearby home.

No injuries were reported, police said.

A 38-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl, both from London, have been charged with mischief under $5,000.

The older woman is additionally charged with two counts of assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with release order. She is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Thursday, while the teen is expected to make a court appearance on February 5.

Police are not releasing the name of the 38-year-old as doing so could potentially identify the girl who cannot be named due to her age.
