London police say officers seized a semi-automatic handgun and more than $22,000 worth of fentanyl and carfentanyl from a man on a city street.
As part of a drug and weapons investigation, members of the police guns and gangs section arrested a man on Simcoe Street on Wednesday afternoon.
A search of the suspect during the arrest turned up a glock 26 9x19 semi-automatic handgun, 11 rounds of 9mm hollow-point bullets, 118 grams of fentanyl, 24 grams of carfentanyl, and a quantity of cash. The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is $22,500.
A 19-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with nine offences including possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, carrying a concealed weapon, careless use, handling, or storage of a firearm, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and breach of probation.
The man is scheduled to appear in London court on Thursday.
