Business Cares Food Drive an 'unqualified success'

The London community has shown up for people in need once again.

The Business Cares Food Drive announced the results of the 2023 campaign on Wednesday, revealing that Londoners donated 627,000 pounds worth of food and cash. This total represents a 5.4 per cent increase over last year's donation.

"We can say that this year's campaign is an unqualified success," Business Cares Campaign Chair, Wayne Dunn said.

"We know Londoners are struggling with the ongoing ramifications of Covid, employment challenges, and issues caused by inflation and higher costs of living," Dunn added. He said that to continue to raise more to try to meet the growing demand on food banks proves what a caring, generous community is.

All of the food and money raised will be given to the London Food Bank and the more than 35 programs and organizations that it, in turn, supports.

Jane Roy, co-director of the London Food Bank, echoed Dunn's sentiments. "The agencies with whom we work are seeing increased need from the community and results today show how supportive our community is," she said.

She added that this year's donations will make a huge difference in the lives of many in the London community.
