St. Thomas organizations get $58K from local power provider

There will be more full tummies and a brighter soccer field in St. Thomas thanks to a local power provider.

Entegrus, which operates electricity distribution systems for over 62,000 customers in Southwestern Ontario, has donated $58,000 to three organizations in St. Thomas. The company announced on Tuesday it will give $20,000 each to the St. Thomas Salvation Army Outreach Team and The Elgin St. Thomas Food Providers Network. Another $18,000 will go to help the St. Thomas Soccer Club install field lighting.

“Our support for community projects such as the Soccer Club, the Salvation Army Outreach Team and The Elgin-St. Thomas Food Providers Network reflects our commitment to supporting thriving and inclusive communities,” said Entegrus President and CEO Jim Hogan. “Entegrus is grateful to be part of the St. Thomas community and support the organizations who support improving the local quality of life.”

St. Thomas Salvation Army Outreach Team will use its share of the money to continue providing hot meals from its community outreach van. The money to Elgin St. Thomas Food Providers Network will allow it to enhance its capacity to provide essentials to those dealing with food insecurity.

So far this year, Entegrus and its workers have donated approximately $400,000 to local organizations and initiatives.
