A collision northeast of Tillsonburg that claimed the lives of two teens last August has led to charges against a 17-year-old.
Just after midnight on August 4, 2023, Oxford OPP, firefighters, and paramedics were called to a single-vehicle collision on Cornell Road at Furnace Road in Norwich Township.
Police determined that seven people were in a vehicle that ended up leaving the roadway and rolling. One of the passengers was ejected during the crash and several others were left trapped inside, police said.
An 18-year-old from Brantford was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 16-year-old from Mount Pleasant died in hospital. Both were passengers of the vehicle.
The driver and four other passengers were also taken to hospital.
On Monday, Oxford OPP announced that the driver has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death.
Because the driver was 17 at the time of the collision, their name cannot be released.
