Fire crews received the call around 6:30 p.m. and arrived to the scene on Concord Road shortly after.
One person suffered burn injuries and they are believed to be serious but not life threatening.
The investigation remains ongoing and the cause has not yet been determined.
It is also believed that the incident is not suspicious.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
