London man charged after chase

A London man was arrested after allegedly attempting to flee from police on Thursday morning.

At approximately 2:35 a.m. on November 23, members of the London Police Service were in the area of Barker Street and Sussex Place when a motorcycle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed through a residential area without any lights on.

According to police, the driver of the motorcycle struck a speed bump, crashing the bike before fleeing on foot.

Officers and members of the canine unit searched for the man, locating him in the backyard of a nearby residence.

Police say they recovered break and enter tools on the suspect. Officers also determined that the driver was not licenced or insured, and that the motorcycle did not have any plates affixed to it.

As a result of the investigation, the 37-year-old man of London has been charged with: dangerous operation; possession of break in instruments; trespassing at night; and driving without a licence, insurance and plates.

The accused is expected to appear in London court in the new year to answer to charges.
