Health agency looking for dog involved in biting incident

Southwestern Public Health (SWPH) wants to find a dog involved in a biting incident to assess it for rabies.

The health agency was told that the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday on Burwell Road, near Password Park.

According to SWPH, an individual was running in the area when they passed by a woman walking a large black dog on a leash. The woman, described as between the ages of 30 and 40, was allegedly unable to stop the dog from biting the runner.

The dog is possibly a Staffordshire Terrier.

The health agency is looking for information about the dog, in order to assess for risk of exposure to the rabies virus.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Environmental Health Team at Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096.
