Driver killed in single-vehicle crash in southeast London

One person was killed in a serious crash in southeast London on Wednesday night.

Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle collision on Commissioners Road East near Jackson Road around 6:45 p.m.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, London police said. That individual's name has not been released.

Commissioners between Chelton and Hamilton roads was closed for several hours while members of the police traffic management unit were on scene. Police deployed a drone over the area to assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

This is the city's third fatal collision this week. Earlier in the day on Wednesday, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in a parking lot on Wonderland Road South, north of Southdale Road. She was taken to hospital where she later died from her injuries.

A collision on Adelaide Street North near Glenora Drive Sunday afternoon claimed the life of an 83-year-old pedestrian. William Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police continue to search for a second vehicle believed to have been involved in that collision.
