St. Thomas police were called about the incident at the unnamed residence on Friday.
A St. Thomas man was arrested. He has since been charged with assault with a weapon and failure to comply with an undertaking.
The man was held for a court appearance, police said on Saturday.
The worker was not physically injured in the assault.
Lambton OPP are on the lookout for a break and enter suspect.
