One person has been taken to hospital after a freight train collided with a transit van northeast of Glencoe Wednesday morning.
Middlesex OPP, firefighters, and paramedics were called to the collision involving a westbound Canadian Pacific train and a northbound van on Thames Road shortly before 9 a.m. When emergency crews arrived the white van was flipped onto its roof in the grassy ditch. The train was stopped on the tracks.
A person who was inside the van suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The only other person inside the van was not hurt, police said.
The rail crossing is controlled by a crossbuck sign with flashing red lights, which were activated at the time.
Thames Road between Century Drive and Falconbridge Drive was closed while police investigated and cleared debris from the scene. The area was reopened around 12:30 p.m.
