Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has been called in after two London police officers and a woman were injured during an arrest.
According to the London Police Service, officers saw a woman who was known to have outstanding warrants in the area of Lyman and Krupp streets around 11:40 a.m. on Monday. Police say that, when the officers tried to arrest her, the woman ran. The officers chased her and there was an "interaction between police and the suspect."
Police say the woman was taken to hospital with a serious, but non-life threatening injury. Two officers also suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
A 34-year-old woman is charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm, escaping lawful custody, and resisting a peace officer.
Because the woman was injured during the interaction, the SIU has been called in to investigate.
