Marie Andree Sanon is the Forest City's newest millionaire.
The London woman won the August 23, 2023, LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball Draw worth $1 million.
Sanon said she meant to walk to the store to by her ticket, but after she discovered it was raining decided to drive instead.
"But when I went out to my car, I saw I was blocked in by my neighbour," she shared. Ultimately, Sanon bought her winning ticket on the OLG app.
She logged into her OLG account the day after the draw.
"I saw the big win message, but after checking the numbers, I couldn’t understand how I won," she said. "I was so confused until I realized I won on the Gold Ball draw. I was shocked! I had to double check how many zeros were in a million."
Sanon called her win a blessing and said her dad would have been thrilled with her win.
"He is the one who inspired me to play. I am so grateful and blessed. I have butterflies in my stomach," she said.
She plans to buy a house, share her winnings with her brother and son, and put the rest aside for the future.
"I used to say I'd buy a Porsche if I ever won, but my responsible side has prevailed," she said.
