No people were hurt, but several dogs had to be rescued from an apartment fire in east London Sunday.
Firefighters were called to the three-storey walk-up at 96 King Edward Ave. just after 4 p.m. When crews arrived they found the blaze contained to a first-floor unit.
The building was evacuated as a precaution.
Several dogs in a second-floor unit above the fire were taken to safety by firefighters.
The blaze was extinguished and tenants were allowed to return to their units by 7 p.m.
Damage is estimated at $75,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
