London man arrested in downtown stabbing

London police have arrested a man accused of stabbing someone at a downtown apartment building early Tuesday morning.

According to investigators, police were called at around 2:30 a.m. for a disturbance at a residence on Dundas Street near Adelaide Street North.

Through an investigation, police learned the two men were inside an apartment when an argument ensued. The occupant of the dwelling reportedly pushed the other man into the hallway and struck him with a cane.

Another resident heard the squabble and left his unit to see what was going on. The witness allegedly observed the occupant stab the man, which is when police were called.

The victim was located with stab wounds and taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the victim and the accused are known to each other.

A 58-year-old London man has since been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. He remains in custody and was scheduled to make a court appearance sometime Tuesday.
