One person cut from vehicle after southwest London crash

A two-vehicle crash temporarily closed a stretch of Southdale Road in west London Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the collision on Southdale Road West at Wickerson Road shortly after 4 p.m. London firefighters had to extrication at least one individual from the wreckage.

London fire officials said two people were taken to hospital with unknown injuries. Fire crews have since cleared the scene.

London police had closed Southdale between Westdel Bourne and Bramblewood Place while they investigated the cause of the crash. It has since reopened.

Earlier on Thursday, fire crews responded to a natural gas leak, also on Wickerson Drive at Byron Baseline Road, just north of where the collision occurred.

The scene was shutdown most of the afternoon, and the City of London then stated that the area would remain closed until sometime Friday.

At around 7 p.m., London fire officials posted on social media that Byron Baseline Road at Wickerson Road was reopened, and residents had been allowed to go back to their homes.
