Impaired driving complaint leads to drug charges

A London man is facing charges following the complaint of a possible impaired driver in the south end of the city over the weekend.

At approximately 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, London police received a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of St Clair Crescent and Estella Road.

Police were given a description of both the vehicle and the driver. When officers found the vehicle, they reported that it was still running with the suspect asleep in the driver's seat.

"Officers determined the vehicle involved had been stolen earlier that day and had not yet been reported," police said.

The suspect was arrested without incident. Police seized an undisclosed quantity of drugs.

A 28-year-old man faces charges including:

• Impaired driving

• Operation of a vehicle while prohibited

• Possession of property obtained by crime worth more than $5,000

• Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking

The man is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
