34-year-old man charged in Woodstock stabbing

Charges have been laid in a stabbing that left one person with serious injuries in Woodstock.

Police were called to the area of Wilson Street and Peel Street where they found a person suffering from stab wounds. That individual was taken to hospital in serious, non-life threatening condition.

Investigators determined a theft escalated to a physical confrontation that ended with the person being stabbed.

A 34-year-old Woodstock man was arrested nearby.

He has since been charged with six offences including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with probation order. The man is still in custody, police said on Wednesday.
