Update: Man injured in southeast London carjacking, suspect identified

London police continue to search for the suspect linked to a carjacking in the city’s southeast end early Thursday evening.

At around 5 p.m., police responded to a report from a citizen who claimed he was stabbed by an acquaintance, who then proceeded to steal his vehicle from a parking lot on Highbury Avenue South, north of Wilton Grove Road.

Police arrived and found the victim with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and he was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Approximately 15 minutes later, police located the stolen vehicle unoccupied on Wellington Road South near Exeter Road. A knife was also recovered, police said.

On Friday, police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Lynton Williams of London. He is charged by way of warrant with aggravated assault, armed robbery and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

Williams is described as a Black man, tall, with long braids. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, long shorts, and safety boots/shoes.

While the altercation is not random in nature, police have advised the public to not approach the suspect if he’s seen, and instead call 911.
