Teen charged after allegedly trying to bite retail employee

An attempted robbery and biting at a store near Dundas and Clarke Road has a 17-year-old girl facing charges.

It happened on Wednesday afternoon, London police say.

Just before 5 p.m., a young woman entered a store, picked up several items and left the store without paying. A staff member tried to get the stolen items back, and the teen allegedly tried to bite the employee.

The suspect then ran off.

A youth was arrested Wednesday evening after two robberies in the east end of the city.

Police were called and went to the area and got a suspect description.

Shortly after that, a youth wearing a bandana entered a mini-mart not far from the first store.

She pointed a knife at the employee, threatened him and then assaulted him.

The suspect was restrained by a customer coming into the store and police were called.

Investigators say the same teen was responsible for both robberies.

She also tried to kick officers and the windows of a police cruiser when she was arrested.

The teen faces eight charges, including:

• Robbery

• Armed robbery

• Disguise with intent

• Assault with a weapon

• Resist arrest

• Uttering threats of death or bodily harm

One victim suffered minor injuries.

The suspect can't be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice act.
