The dog did it.
According to the London Fire Department, a kitchen fire on Sandringham Crescent on Wednesday was caused by a family dog accidentally turning on a front-controlled stove.
Platoon Chief Colin Shewell confirmed that once the stove was turned on, combustible items fell onto the stovetop and ignited.
The homeowners tried to smother the flames, but were unsuccessful. Firefighters were able to put out the fire with just an extinguisher, Shewell said.
No injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at $5,000.
"It's a good reminder of cleanliness around the stove," Shewell said. "Whether it's a front-control or rear-control stove."
Less than an hour after the fire was reported, the homeowners were allowed back into the residence.
