The St. Thomas Police Service aim to keep kids active and entertained with a two-day event next month.
On August 2 and August 22, police are inviting local kids to join in on pick-up basketball and road hockey sessions at the Joe Thornton Community Centre. On both days the sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on the north side parking lot.
Participants will be able to interact and play alongside police officers. Police believe the event will give kids the opportunity to see officers in a new, friendly way.
"We believe that building positive connections between the police and the community starts from a young age, and this summer event provides the perfect setting for fun, sportsmanship, and camaraderie," said Inspector Kim Manuel.
The event is free and no registration is required, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
