Two days after a planter box outside of a Richmond Row restaurant was set on fire, an arson charge has been laid against a London man.
London police and firefighters were called about a fire and property damage at Dimi's Greek House at 551 Richmond St., near Albert Street around 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived they found plants had been ripped out of a wooden planter - which was set ablaze - patio tables were flipped and decorative lights torn down.
Firefighters extinguished the fire relatively quickly.
No one was hurt and damage was estimated at approximately $1,000.
Police reviewed video surveillance footage to identify a suspect.
On Thursday, police announced a 39-year-old London man had been arrested in connection with the incident. He is charged with arson causing mischief to property and mischief under $5,000.
The man was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges Thursday.
