City's inside workers ratify new collective agreement

It appears labour peace between the City of London and its inside workers will continue.

CUPE Local 101 - the union representing inside workers at the City of London - has ratified a new agreement.

Union members completed a vote on Wednesday night.

"Both sides worked really hard and I feel that this is a fair deal for all," said CUPE 101 President Steve Holland. "We ratified [Wednesday] night and I feel our membership is pleased with the work both sides came to agree upon.

Holland said he is not yet able to discuss the details of the agreement or provide the percentage of CUPE workers who voted in favour of the deal.

CUPE 101 represents 900 city employees in departments such as Ontario Works, planning, corporate services, and more.

The union went on strike in 2015, with the work stoppage lasting more than eight weeks.

City councillors will vote on the agreement on July 25.
