Man charged in Humane Society break-in

Charges have been laid after a man broke into a London animal shelter and opened the cages of the dogs inside.

According to London police, a man was spotted on the property of the Humane Society London & Middlesex at 624 Clarke Rd. around 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday. The man allegedly damaged items on the grounds before forcing his way inside the building.

Once inside, the man opened a number of the animal crates, allowing the dogs to run free in the building.

Police were called and arrested a suspect as he was exiting the building.

All of the animals were returned to their crates, police said.

A 43-year-old London man has been charged with break and enter with intent, and possession of break in instruments. He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in London court on Thursday.
