St. Thomas officer charged in domestic violence case

A St. Thomas police officer has been suspended concerning a domestic violence investigation.

According to a release from St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) Chief Marc Roskamp, the unidentified officer was charged with intimate partner-related offences on Thursday by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

STPS said the alleged incidents occurred outside police jurisdiction in December 2022 and January of this year while the officer was off-duty.

“The officer has been suspended with pay from active duty pending the completion of the investigation,” read Roskamp’s statement

No other details about the probe are being released by STPS while the investigation remains ongoing by members of the Professional Standards Branch.
