Two London Knights star players are going to the NHL.
Oliver Bonk was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers with the 22nd overall pick in Wednesday night's NHL draft in Nashville. His teammate, Easton Cowan was chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs 28th overall.
It is the first time since 2019 that the Knights have had two players selected in the first round in the same draft.
Bonk, the son of NHLer Radek Bonk, scored 10 goals and recorded 40 points in 67 games with the London Knights this past season.
"I'm excited to put on the orange and white. Let's get to work," Bonk said in a short video posted to the Flyers' Twitter account.
Cowan, an 18-year-old winger from Mt. Brydges, scored 20 goals with the Knights this past season. In the playoff run that saw the Knights become Western Conference champions, Cowan had nine goals and 21 points.
In a minute long video posted by the Maple Leafs to Twitter, Cowan excitedly hugged his family after the announcement. He said his phone had been "buzzing" non-stop for an hour.
