Pride protester hit with another charge

A West Lorne man already facing charges for criminally harassing an ally of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by going to her dying father's Windsor hospital room has been hit with an additional charge related to a drag queen storytime event.

The event was held at the Parkhill Library on April 29, Middlesex OPP said.

A couple dozen people had gathered outside of the library to protest drag queen storytime. Those who showed up to attend the event had to be escorted into the library because of the protest. OPP officers were also present.

Bubba Pollock, 34, has been charged with criminal harassment in connection with the event. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 16.

Police did not release any additional details about what led to the charge.

Earlier this month, a separate criminal harassment charge was laid against Pollock. According to Windsor police, Pollock had allegedly been involved in an online dispute with an ally of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community over a protest he claimed to have organized at Wortley Pride in London. Following their online exchange, police said a man travelled from London to Windsor where he took a selfie with a patient in the palliative care facility at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare. The patient was the father of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community supporter.

The man then allegedly shared the photo on social media and sent it to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community supporter.
