Arson charge laid in $21K north London apartment fire

Charges have been laid in an apartment fire in north London that caused several thousand dollars worth of damage over the weekend.

Firefighters were called to the building on Adelaide Street North, just north of Fanshawe Park Road East around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Damage was pegged at $21,000.

The blaze was deemed suspicious with officers with the London police street crime unit joining fire officials in the investigation.

A suspect was arrested a short time after the fire was put out.

A 43-year-old London man has since been charged with arson causing property damage. He was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charge on Monday.
