Middlesex crime spree ends with charges against 29-year-old man

A hit-and-run collision, the robbery of a liquor store, and a disturbance inside a home are all alleged to have been part of a crime spree in Middlesex County.

OPP were called to Melbourne Road in Southwest Middlesex shortly after 4 a.m. on Monday for a "fail to remain" crash. Officers determined a pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle and then took off from the scene.

Soon after, police connected the same truck to a break-in at the Glencoe LCBO. In that incident, the truck was allegedly used to crash through the front doors of the Currie Street business. Approximately $200 worth of alcohol was stolen.

While still probing the break and enter, police were called about a disturbance at a home on Springfield Road in Southwest Middlesex involving the truck.

Officers arrived at the scene and, after a short foot chase, arrested a 29-year-old Chippewas of the Thames First Nation man.

He's been charged with eight offences including break and entering, dangerous driving, robbery with intent, unlawfully being in a dwelling, driving while prohibited, and failure to comply with release order.

No injuries were reported in relation to any of these incidents, police said.
