A London firefighter was sent to hospital early Monday afternoon while working on a blaze that broke out at property south of the city's downtown core.
Emergency crews were responded to the structure fire at 253 Grey Street shortly after noon. Fire crews arrived and observed heavy smoke coming from all sides of the home.
When crews arrived at the boarded up property, they located a heavy fire in the back of the home, leading them to commence their approach from the outside of the dwelling to knock the blaze down. A short time later, crews managed to extinguish the fire and were able to perform search and rescue operations.
No one was located inside the home however, one of the responding firefighters was hurt while on scene and they were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Fire investigators remained on scene after to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. A damage estimate is not available.
