Schools buses in Middlesex, Oxford cancelled Friday

Slippery conditions on the roads Friday has led to school buses in Middlesex and Oxford counties being cancelled for the day.

Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services confirmed just after 6 a.m. that school purpose vehicles in the two counties won't hit the roads at all on Friday. To see the full list of bus cancellations click here.

The bus cancellations come as roads are slick and a little snow-covered in spots. A band of freezing rain moved across the region late Thursday night and continued overnight. Environment Canada had issued a freezing rain warning. It was lifted shortly before 3 a.m. Friday. Light snow followed the freezing rain, but has not led to any significant accumulation. Sanders and plows are out working to clean up from the weather system.

Buses in London and Elgin County are running on schedule.

The London District Catholic and Thames Valley District school boards have confirmed all schools will be open Friday, despite buses being cancelled in Oxford and Middlesex.
