Charges have been laid against a 39-year-old man accused of forcing his way inside his estranged partner's St. Thomas home to assault her.
St. Thomas police got a call from a woman Friday morning who reported the man had pushed his way into the residence, damaged property and physically attacked her. He took off before police arrived, but was found a short distance away.
Officers arrested a 39-year-old man without incident.
The man, whose name has not been released, has since been charged with one count each of assault, mischief, and failure to comply with probation and three counts of failure to comply with release order.
He has been remanded into custody, police said.
