A London man, who claims he rarely plays lottery games, lucked out big time after deciding to purchase a ticket late last year.
Bruce Borowski, a 67-year-old engineering technician purchased a Daily Grand ticket for the November 28, 2022 draw and managed to match all five main numbers to win a prize of $250,000. He won a second prize that was split with another ticket, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
The 67-year-old said he only purchases tickets on rare occasions when he his "dreaming big." Borowski said he initially opted to check his ticket at home with the OLG app when he discovered he had won.
"The winning tune was so loud. I saw the Big Winner screen and thought I won $250 at first," said Borowski. "When I put on my glasses and saw the comma, I realized I won $250,000! I couldn't fully accept it was real until I brought it to the store."
Borowski plans to be quite savvy when it comes to spending his prize money, expressing that he feels privileged to have won.
"This gives me the freedom to pursue my heart’s desire of technical product development," he said. "Not a single penny of this win will be wasted. It will be saved and invested, and I will use some to upgrade my vehicle."
The Daily Grand is a national lottery with a top prize of $1,000 a day for life for matching the five main numbers plus the grand number. The second prize is $25,000 a year for life for matching the five main numbers. The ticket costs $3 per play with draws twice per week.
Borowski purchased his winning ticket at Neighbours Convenience Store on Cathcart Street.
