Four suspects have been arrested in an armed robbery at an east-end business that sent two people to hospital with serious injuries.
Police were called to London Gold Buyer on Highbury Avenue north of Brydges Street around 9:45 a.m. Thursday after a group of people armed with a gun attempted to rob the business.
One person was shot, while a second person suffered blunt force trauma, police said. They were taken to hospital where they remained in serious, non-life threatening condition Thursday afternoon.
Police have not confirmed whether the two injured people were employees of the store.
London Gold Buyer was cordoned off with yellow police tape and two cruisers were parked out front following the incident. Around 11:30 a.m., police confirmed four suspects had been taken into custody near Woodstock with the assistance of OPP.
No details about the suspects or potential charges have been released.
There is no threat to public safety, police reassured.
Prior to the arrests, police had asked the public to avoid the area of Highbury Avenue between Brydges Street and Langmuir Avenue.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
