Health unit probing dog bite incident in Ingersoll

Southwestern Public Health is trying to identify a dog involved in a biting incident in Ingersoll.

According to the health unit, a young person was out rollerblading on January 1 when they were bit by a dog. The incident happened on the pathway between McCreery Road and Oxford Avenue in Ingersoll between 1:30 and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Southwestern Public Health seeks information about the animal so they can assess for risk of exposure to the rabies virus.

The dog is described as small to medium in size with a brown coat. The owner was reportedly male. Two other people were present at the scene, but their relationship to the dog and owner is unknown.
