Woodstock invited to fill police cruisers with food donations

Instead of sitting inside the back of a cop car, Woodstock police would prefer if residents helped fill them with bags of groceries.

For the 14th year in a row, the Woodstock Police Service's Auxiliary Unit will hold its Fill-A-Cruiser holiday food drive next Saturday, December 10.

Auxiliary officers are ensuring that helping out is easy, with pre-made bags of food already packed. Those interested in donating a food bag can purchase one to put in the back of a police cruiser for $10. The campaign also welcomes the community to bring or shop for their own non-perishable items, cash donations will also be accepted.

"In 2021, the community filled 7 cruisers. The Woodstock Police Service and the Auxiliary Unit appreciates the community’s generosity to support their community and those in need," read a media release from police.

All donations will support the local Salvation Army food bank. The event will be held at the Sobeys location on 379 Springbank Avenue North and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
