Three charged in robbery that led to lockdowns in Dorchester

Charges have been laid in an armed pharmacy robbery in Kitchener that forced school lockdowns in Dorchester Thursday.

Waterloo Regional police were called to the robbery at a drugstore in the area of Weber Street East and Montgomery Road around 11:15 a.m. Police determined three suspects, each armed with a baton, had walked into the store and demanded narcotics before driving away.

Two of the suspects were found and arrested while inside a pharmacy in Dorchester, police said on Friday.

The search for the third suspect, who took off running from the area, led to an extensive search that involved Middlesex OPP. Lord Dorchester Secondary School and other area elementary schools were placed under a 'hold and secure' as a precaution. By 7 p.m., police announced all hold and secures had been lifted and the third suspect arrested.

No injuries were reported.

Three Kitchener men, aged 22 and 24, have been charged with robbery with a weapon, disguise with intent, and possession of suspected heroin.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected to be laid, police said.
