Section of eastbound Oxford Street closing for three days

There is a new traffic headache for drivers heading east on a main artery in east London.

Starting Tuesday, the eastbound lanes of Oxford Street between Strand and Fleet streets will be closed for three days. The closure is to allow crews to replace a sewer maintenance hole in the area.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Quebec Street, to Dundas Street, and then to Highbury Avenue before rejoining Oxford. Detour signs are in place, according to the city.

Drivers heading west will also be slowed by temporary lane restrictions. Pedestrians will still be able to use the sidewalk in the area throughout the work.

All lanes will be reopened by the end of the day Thursday.
