No arrests made in fatal weekend stabbing

London police say the man killed in the city's fourth homicide of the year died from a stab wound.

Devon Cherrey-Rooke, 31, of London was found suffering from a critical injury in the Home Depot parking lot in the area of Dundas Street and Clarke Road around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police publicly identified Cherrey-Rooke on Tuesday. They also confirmed the 31-year-old's cause of death was from a stab wound.

Police added that no arrests have been made in the case and are asking anyone who witnessed the fatal attack or who has surveillance footage from the area around the time of the incident to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

This is London's fourth homicide of 2022 and the second as a result of a stabbing. Stephen Hutchinson, 66, died in hospital after being found suffering from a stab wound in the area of Springbank Drive and Wharncliffe Road on January 31. Gregory Cane, 38, of London was charged with second degree murder in connection with Hutchinson's death.
