St. Thomas police said on Wednesday they are seeking an arrest warrant for the 36-year-old on charges of sexual exploitation of a person with a disability, uttering death threats, and breaching release conditions.
Police have released no other details about the allegation or their investigation.
The wanted man has also not been publicly identified.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
