Four charged after downtown dispute involving gun

Four people are facing charges after a dispute downtown that saw a gun fired and a London police officer assaulted early Tuesday morning.

Police were called about an altercation involving a person alleged to have a gun in the area of Richmond and Kent streets around 2:15 a.m. When officers arrived on scene they found evidence a firearm had been fired.

Three suspects believed to have been involved in the incident ran from a vehicle as officers approached, police said. They were arrested a short time later. During that arrest, an officer was assaulted by another person who was then taken into custody.

No injuries were reported and a firearm was seized.

Police do not believe the incident was random.

A 19-year-old Londoner is charged with discharging a firearm in a manner reckless to the life or safety of another person, possession of a firearm without a licence, careless storage of a firearm or ammunition, occupying a vehicle with a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

A 20-year-old and another 19-year-old, both from London, are charged with occupying a vehicle with a firearm and failure to comply with an undertaking.

A 19-year-old London woman is charged with assaulting a peace officer and obstruction of a peace officer.

All of the accused appeared in London court in relation to the charges on Tuesday. Three were remanded into custody.
