Suspects in London woman's murder may have come from the GTA

Investigators probing the murder of a London woman gunned down in the driveway of her northwest-end home last September believe the shooters are from the Greater Toronto Area.

Lynda Marques, 30, had just pulled into the driveway of her home on Wateroak Drive around 7:50 p.m. on September 10 when two individuals fatally shot her. The pair took off from the area in a black Volkswagen Jetta.

The getaway vehicle was found abandoned five days later on Meadowlily Road South near Commissioners Road East.

London police determined the vehicle had been stolen from Bluffers Park and Beach in Scarborough five days before the shooting. The vehicle has since undergone extensive forensic examination and analysis of evidence gathered is ongoing, police said.

On Tuesday, police announced they have reason to believe the shooters travelled to London from the GTA the day before the shooting and left immediately after. They have released a photo of the two suspects, as well as a picture of the getaway vehicle.

Investigators are asking anyone who has information about the two individuals in the picture, including their activities in the city between September 9 and 10 and the movements of the Jetta while travelling to London and after arriving in the city to call them at 519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Marques' murder is one of only two unsolved homicides in London in the past decade.
