A pair of schools in the London-area have been forced to switch to virtual learning due to COVID-19 cases.
On Tuesday, the Thames Valley District School Board announced John Wise Public School in St. Thomas will close for the remainder of the week because of staffing challenges. Later on, the board confirmed that Kensal Park French Immersion Public School in London will also be closed.
Families of students have been notified that their children will switch to online learning starting Wednesday. In-person classes will resume on Monday, February 7.
Two other schools in the Thames Valley District had briefly closed for similar reasons since students resumed in-person learning again in mid-January. All schools except for John Wise public and Kensal Park remain open.
Instead of the board reporting individual COVID-19 cases daily, a summary of staff and student absences can be found on the province's website.
Parents are notified when the overall absentee rate at their child's school reaches 30 per cent. The absentee rate accounts for all absences and not just those related to coronavirus.
